Educational expenditure data for the state of South Carolina, published by the Office of Revenue and Fiscal Affairs (RFA) in the Fiscal Year 2014 Local Government Finance Report, portray trends in school district expenditures since Fiscal Year 1993.

Real, per capita expenditures peaked in Fiscal Year 2007, just prior to the onset of the Great Recession.
During the 21 year period, real, per capita spending on Instruction increased 14.6%. Spending on Administration increased 33.1%. Spending on Debt Service increased 57.0%. Finally, spending on Land and Facility Construction increased 104.8%.
